Forgetful? Memorization Techniques Can Help!

How often do you find yourself in a position where things just slip your mind? Maybe they're names or phone numbers, and they can be quite valuable when you need them. The more we use electronic things to act as second memories, the more easy it is for us to get lazy. However, you'll find that your memory can be improved and that you will be able to remember a great deal of things the first time you encounter them, whether you are thinking of names, faces, dates or even long strings of phone numbers.

You'll find that simply by employing a few basic memory tricks that you will be able to hold onto important information without having any reminder at all. You'll find that just be doing things as simple as saying the information out loud, or coming up with a corresponding image or even creating a little story or song about that you will be able to cement them in your head a little more efficiently.

Repeating Everything

When you think of something that you want to remember, how do you make sure that you won't forget it? One very common and fairly effective way to hang on to a piece of information is to repeat it over and over again, and you'll find that it will work for phone numbers, names or anything else. You'll find that when you repeat something over and over again that it will become ingrained in your memory and that you will be able to make sure that it stays there. You'll find that this works well for phone numbers, addresses, names, even poems or songs!

Create an Image

There are very few people who have photographic memories, but those that do think in pictures, and this is a good trick for you to learn. For instance, when you are thinking about something like the number three, they might think about a triangle, or a yield sign or a set of triplets something else that will call to mind this number. When you think of something in pictures, you make sure that it's much easier to remember, especially when you are thinking of long strings of numbers.

Tell A Tale

If you are a creative person, you'll find that this technique is a great deal of fun for you. When you tell a story, you are helping things to stay in your head. For instance, think about needing to remember that you need eggs, milk, cheese and apples from the grocery. Think about chicken walking down the road with a cow, and the pair of them stealing cheese and apples from the super market. This simple story, as ridiculous as it might be, is a great way to remember your grocery list and it can be enlarged to help you keep more complex things as well.
